Hayward mapping out road to redemption with 3E Capital

Former BP Chief Executive Officer Tony Hayward is setting up an energy advisory business called 3E Capital, according to The Telegraph newspaper. Hayward is working with Deloitte, the accounting and consultancy house, to set up 3E Capital. Hayward was widely blamed for the bungled response to the Macondo oil spill this spring and summer. He is currently a non-executive director on the board of the Anglo-Russian venture TNK-BP but is understood to be seeking other board appointments.

GM IPO on Thursday

Maybe you missed this? A little company called General Motors will make a minor initial public offering on Thursday. A key part of the marketing pitch will be the ?green halo? that the new electric Chevy Volt has provided for GM?s lineup of cars, though not everyone thinks electric vehicles will save the company.

German solar companies look further afield

Solar subsidy cuts are pushing German solar companies to seek new markets for their products. Photovoltaic cell maker Q-Cells and SMA, which makes solar power inverters, are looking to North America France and Italy as key markets for expansion. The German market has been strong, however, as generators try to lock in the tariff subsidies.
